Director Sales Training APAC
As the Director, Sales Training, you will be responsible for directing the design, development, implementation, measurement, and maintenance of sales training programs that effectively support the development needs of Align Technology’s APAC sales team. Training content includes Invisalign and iTero product and industry knowledge, digital workflows for restorative and orthodontic procedures, and selling skills. You will work closely with APAC Sales & Marketing leadership to assess training needs of the commercial teams and collaborate with the Sales Training Operations team to project manage the execution.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will…
- Oversee the APAC sales organization training programs to ensure maximum effectiveness of the sales force.
- Establish procedures and guidelines for assessing the quality of training and makes changes if standards are not met or skill or knowledge gaps are identified.
- Direct the design of state of the art, agile training curriculum for the Align product portfolio, reducing the speed to proficiency of Align’s APAC commercial selling teams.
- Understand dental and orthodontic industry-specific trends and landscapes, influencing instructional direction and design where appropriate.
- Work with the Sales Management team to establish and implement a Sales Process and messaging playbook that provides a foundation for coaching and development.
- Collaborate with Sales Training’s operations team to develop a blend of virtual and instructor led training that can be accessed by internal and external sales teams.
- Facilitate introductory and ongoing Invisalign and iTero training to APAC commercial team based on the required proficiency for their role.
- Work closely with and understand the Invisalign and iTero Marketing team strategies, ensuring effective training and execution of related sales tactics, tools, resources, etc.
- Directs ongoing sales force training requirements and objectives for the APAC sales team. Ensures timely updates to course curricula to reflect changes in product offerings and local market demands.
- Co-travel with Align’s commercial teams to become an expert in the Align Digitial Platform.
- Work with Invisalign and iTero Sales & Marketing Management to direct the creation of training programs for APAC sales meetings.
- Create an evaluation strategy that monitors and measures training effectiveness in collaboration with the sales training operations team.
- Continuously analyze APAC sales team performance to evaluate effectiveness of training and design follow-up programs as needed.
- Manage the implementation, delivery, and consistency of execution for training programs led by the field-based sales training teams
- Serves as subject matter expert related to sales training best practices in the digital dental industry and incorporates into APAC sales training strategies and programs at Align
- Manage, coach and develop a team of trainers consistent with their fulfilling their role description and overall value to the business
- Provide oversight, structure, and process to the field sales training (FST) program consistent to performance expectation.
- Stay up-to-date on adult learning and related training and development capability and technological advances
- Manage APAC Sales training budget and ensure that training initiatives and overall program are effective and efficient.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
In this role, you’ll need …
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required, advanced degree in science or business is preferred

10+ years of relevant experience including:
- Minimum 5+ years sales experience
- Minimum 2+ years experience leading and managing a team
- Minimum 3+ years sales training experience
- Experience in pharmaceutical/medical sales training preferred
- Exceptional oral and written communication
- Strong analytical skills. Comprehension of financial reports, documents and statements
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple, conflicting projects
- Demonstrated leadership, ability to motivate others and influence without authority
- Creative, self-motivated, team player, customer focused
- Excellent customer-centric communication skills
- Proactive with sharing and developing new ideas
- Self-starter that needs minimal supervision
- Advanced PowerPoint skills
- Project management skills
