Director, Human Resources DACH

Align is in growth mode and committed to building a world-class HR organization. We are seeking a strategic and business-oriented HR leader to serve as Director of Human Resources for the DACH region, supporting Manufacturing Operations, Commercial, and R&D teams. This role will lead a team of HRBPs and HR Advisors, reporting directly to the VP, HR EMEA.

The Director will partner closely with senior leadership to shape and execute the people strategy, focusing on organizational effectiveness, talent management, leadership development, and employee engagement.

Role expectations

  • Lead the HR team for DACH and collaborate with extended HR functions (TA, HR Ops, Compensation, Benefits, Talent Management).
  • Act as a strategic advisor to business leaders, aligning HR initiatives with business goals.
  • Drive organizational design, change management, and culture-building initiatives.
  • Translate business strategy into workforce plans and talent priorities.
  •  Partner with works councils to ensure compliance, foster constructive dialogue, and support co-determination processes.
  •  Coach senior leaders on performance, development, and succession planning.
  • Guide HR COEs in delivering tailored solutions for the region.
  • Foster a high-performance culture aligned with Align’s values.
  • Lead cross-functional projects to improve productivity and engagement.

What we're looking for

  •  Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including 5+ years as an HRBP.
  • Proven experience supporting VP/SVP-level leaders and managing the full talent lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated experience working with works councils and navigating co-determination frameworks in DACH.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to use HR data to influence decisions.
  • Skilled in navigating matrixed environments and influencing without authority.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and change management skills.
  • Ability to build trust and credibility across all levels of the organization.
  • Willingness to travel 15–20%, including internationally.
  • Proficiency in German at a native level or minimum C1
  • Fluency in English
